The hiring process must transform in this candidate-driven market
Every company is process-oriented in all operational aspects. Hiring new talent is no different, but the injection of speed is vital. Whether to hire for a back-fill position or a net-new position, companies who rely on established “tried and true” methods are missing out. This extends the talent acquisition lifecycle and ultimately jeopardizes project timelines.
In this market of record low unemployment, especially in IT roles, qualified candidates are in high demand. Building or filling out a team with new talent must check all the requisite boxes, because a “bad” hire can be detrimental to achieving the mission. However, the market is demanding that companies adjust to faster hiring practices. Typically, a company with a great reputation enjoyed the position to be methodical in their hiring process. Value equates that both sides find the “fit” they were looking for.
The name of the game is speed! Just as one of the main deliverables in technology is the increase in speed and accuracy of process. When in the market for qualified, in-demand talent, speed of decision making is vital. Companies who will win in 2020 realize the importance of speed in evaluating candidates, interviewing, decision making, fast turnaround time on paperwork and ultimately on-boarding will deliver projects on-time and on-budget.
